PRO PLAN SCIENCE
Purina Genome Facility
The Genome Facility focuses on the regulation of gene expression in response to nutrients, termed molecular nutrition. This molecular biological approach to the field of nutrition allows us to characterise metabolic pathways, diseases, and the growth and development of the animal. This approach also allows us to monitor the modulation of gene expression in response to nutrition.
Molecular nutrition is not about genetic engineering; it is simply an additional level of research in the field of nutrition. In addition to gene expression analysis, the facility also serves as the distributor of canine reference family DNA. This DNA is used by researchers around the world to facilitate canine genomic map construction.
